World Maths Day 2009 was on Wed 4th March. It was a world wide event and so it began for us here in St Brigid's on Tuesday at 11.00 ( 4th March began in New Zealand at this time ) and finished on Thursday at 11.00, 48 hours later!
The challenge was to answer as many maths questions as possible during that time and to try and beat last years record of 185,443.085.
Each game was a series one minute quick fire mental maths questions with 4 children from anywhere in the world competing against each other in each game.
All classes in the school competed in the challenge.
Yes, last years total was easily beaten with a remarkable 455,678,934 maths question answered ( correctly ) in that time.
What a challenge for 2010!
